Since the rise of social media, there seems to be some sort of notion that the tried, trusted and traditional website has depreciated in value. In the eyes of many marketers, Facebook takes precedence.
Why does it have to be “one or the other?”
Rather than thinking of social media sites and your website as being in contention with each other, consider how they work together. Your website is the hub of your business on the Internet; meanwhile, your social media channels allow you to reach out to your followers, fans and customers to make yourself more accessible. Your website is far too important to ignore, whether from an SEO or accessibility perspective, to set aside. It should be rich with information about your business in addition to content and how your users may buy from you. Take advantage of social media to help grow your website’s traffic, not fragment it.
